Free gift card ad scams by Jason
One day while logged into myspace
I saw this offer from a local merchant on banner offering a free gift card. So
out of curiosity I clicked the link to see if this is a real offer or not.
Once in the site, the site asks a few survey questions. Such as what type of
detergen you use ect. For a minute I felt that this could be a free lunch. Or so
I thought.
Well then it goes into what I call the second phase and it brings up products to
click and sign up for. At this point the site still does not ask for one to pull
a credit card out just a whole bunch of sign ups.
Luckly I had already created an email account just for potential spam so I knew
that I would not go over my head by placing the email address I had just
created.
Ok so I though this isn't to bad since they are not asking me to buy anything.
Well once you get into the third part it takes you to a section where it has a
list of products to join for a certain fee. The total you have to sign up for is
about 8 or 9 before you get anything remotely free.
Plain and simple these sites get you to sign up with your credit card for
subscriptions that you may not be interested in. You may have seen these like
getting your own x box, free plasma screens, free ipods. Don't waste your time.
If advertisers really want your opinion they would not ask you to pull out your
credit card.
The point of the article is for you not to waste your time. Spam patrol Blog
