The following is a general summary of physical locations and elements associated with each chakra.

The first chakra is located at the base of the spine and is associated with red. It is the chakra that governs our physical existence, our bodies and our health.

The second chakra is located in the area of the womb (or thereabouts for men) and is associated with the color orange. This chakra governs creativity, and some say emotion. (I associate emotion with the heart chakra).

The third chakra is located at the solar plexus and is associated with the color gold (yellow). It is associated with the will or desire.

The fourth chakra (the middle chakra in the chain of seven) is the heart chakra and is associated with the color green, and also the color rose, which is the "color of love." This chakra is connected with emotion and human love.

The fifth chakra is located at the throat and is a bright blue. It governs communication and personal magnetism. It is the chakra that most influences intercommunication and our "personas." It is also the link between emotion and thought.

The sixth chakra is located at the third eye (mid-forehead) and is indigo (deep purple/blue). This chakra is associated with thought (though some say the third chakra governs thought) and with vision, particularly psychic vision. It is also the chakra of spiritual love and connection.

Stones are an important and useful magical tool. Their energy is more constant and predictable than that of "living" materials, because the stones themselves are much less mutable. At the same time, they are able to hold a great deal of energy and store it, and then to release it at the appropriate time.

For meditation, charms for protection for yourself or your home, for healing, for chakra work, for stone elixirs, or for anything that seems suitable. Remember that stones have "memories" and you must clean them when they are worn out, i.e. feel heavy or dull.

First decide why you are doing the magic. Is it for you or someone else? What is the problem? Do you need to give or receive energy? Does it require a full magical working or do you just need a little push?

In all workings, select the stone which has the properties to help you. For a little push, carry the stones with you, either in a little pouch around your neck, as a pendant or in a pocket. In a full-scale magical working, ask the stone for its energies and work them to your end. At the end of the process, the stone is probably completely exhausted and it is best to thank it and cleanse it. For meditation, carry the stone with you. For healing, place the stone on the afflicted area and see its energies seeping into it and drawing the sickness or pain out. Or you can hold the stone in your receptive hand to absorb the healing energies. For elixir: place the stone in a bottle and fill the bottle with water (with healing, include Sea salt or any other salt, as salt cleanses and purifies).
